My Daily Devotional Calendar September 11

Picture
I had a daily devotional calendar, a day at a time flip over kind, that my wife had given me in the mid 90's. Well on September 11, 2001, it was spot on. The passage for the day was Zephaniah 1:14-18.
Zep 1:14   The great day of Jehovah is near; it is near and  rushing greatly, the sound of the day of Jehovah. The mighty man shall cry out bitterly there.15 That day is a day of  wrath, a day of distress and pressure, a day of waste and ruin, a day of  darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and thick darkness, 16  a day of the ram's horn and alarm against the fortified  cities, and against the high towers. 17   And I will bring distress to men, and they shall walk like  the blind, because they have sinned against Jehovah. And their blood shall be  poured out as dust, and their flesh like dung. 18  Their silver and their gold shall not be able to deliver  them in the day of the wrath of Jehovah. But all the earth shall be consumed by  the fire of His jealousy. For He shall make a complete, yea, a speedy end of all those who inhabit the land.

Now this would be a mere coincidence had this been a daily calendar of Old Testament doom and gloom prophecies. But mostly it is full of the normal verse a day wisdom. This calendar was copyrighted and printed in 1993. So, the Lord had it in mind to send a warning through my little calendar.

Now, let me be crystal clear on this point, I do not believe for one minute this was a judgment on those who lost their lives in the in Twin Towers, the fields near Shanksville or the Pentagon. It is an alarm or warning of what is coming.

The comment of Phillip Yancey on the passage for that day sums it up! You see, God's righteous judgment is coming to this earth.

We all need to remember that what we know about God is revealed in the Bible. He is not a product of what we think He is. So, we all need to repent and seek the God of the Bible.
2 Corinthians 6:2   For He says, "In an acceptable time I heard you, and in a day of salvation I helped you." Behold, now is the  acceptable time! Behold, now is the day salvation!
